VIEWFINDER is an artist-run initiative that places contemporary art directly on the street. As a window project space, it offers national, local, and emergent artists with contemporary art practices the opportunity to exhibit new and innovative work within an experimental environment. The project's kaupapa supports and accepts diverse practice areas and views art as a means to explore different viewpoints. VIEWFINDER aims to keep changing the view in a street near you.

Viewfinder is privately funded with a main focus on paying Artist Fees and supporting the people behind the scenes who bring this window gallery to the people on the streets of Whakatū. Viewfinder has been running for six years now, and we thank all our previous funders who have supported the Viewfinder Artistic Programme: Patreon Members, Creative New Zealand, NCC partnership grant, Boosted, Creative Communities and Make/Shift Spaces NZ Ltd.
